BOAS Council Elections
There is now a very exciting opportunity for BOAS members to become more involved with the Society as we currently have two vacancies on BOAS Council.
Being part of Council can help you shape the future of ophthalmic anaesthesia.
Council members have been involved in writing national guidelines, organising the annual scientific meeting and representing the UK at the World Congress of Ophthalmic Anaesthesia.
We welcome applications for places on Council from any permanent member of BOAS.
(Permanent members are those who have been issued a membership number after setting up a standing order payment to BOAS).
The term of office is three years.
If you wish to be considered for a place on BOAS Council then you will need to send a personal statement of up to 250 words which includes details of your current work in ophthalmic anaesthesia and an outline of what you might contribute to the work of BOAS.

Reduced fees for BOAS members .
There will be reduced fees for BOAS members . However , unlike previous years , the council have decided that only existing members ,(who pay the annual fees by standing order ) will be given the discount (not ones who register as members at the time of the conference booking )
Please consider becoming a regular member . It costs only £25 /year and has several benefits .
ACCEA has just announced that the 2018 Clinical Excellence Awards round will open on Tuesday 13 February. Members who intend to apply for a new award and those who need to renew their awards are advised to start preparing their applications using last year’s ACCEA forms in readiness for transferring over to the new application forms when these become available on the ACCEA website (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/advisory-committee-on-clinical-excellence-awards)

Re- BOAS Council Elections
I am writing to invite nominations for the forthcoming BOAS Council elections to be held in November 2017.
There are four vacancies during 2017 round. The election is open to all members of the Society.
All applications, including those for re-election for the second term need to be made formally.
Nominations must be received no later than 21th November 2017.
• Nominations must be made in writing.
• Nominees must provide a brief personal statement about their background, reasons for standing for election and how they intend to contribute to the work of BOAS (maximum 200 words).

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind all members that the next Annual Scientific Congress of BOAS will be held on 23rd – 24th November 2017 at the Tower of London.
